I became aquatinted with Werner through the Guetersloh / Portage Exchange, as a Kunst Leherer in Portage. Luckily, I was invited to join the exchange one year, that was when I was introduced to Werner's home, Monika, Tobi and... Lonzo.
When my wife, Sue and I visited a year or two later, our families became fast friends. Jeff took Lonzo's place one year, and we enjoyed our time with Werner during exchanges in Wisconsin and Familie Gross in Deutschland.
Werner was as a brother to me. He was endlessly kind, fun, and we enjoyed our time together very much. Werner made my life better and expanded my experiences in Germany ('schland) enormously.
He will be very much missed by Sue and myself. Yet, we are fortunate to have so many wonderful memories of an exceptional and special friend. Er wird immer in unseren Herzen weiterleben.
